The master planned community of Windemere in San Ramon CA is fulfilling the original vision. This diverse neighborhood has been very popular due to the amenities and the excellent schools. After six years, homes are selling briskly and the complete build-out is in sight. It’s not too late to purchase a new single family detached home, condo or townhouse in Windemere, but it may be too late within 12 months.

Widemere boasts five new schools that are a part of the highly regarded San Ramon Valley Unified School District. These five schools serve students from pre-school through high school.

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District consistently ranks among the top 10% of all school districts in California. California High School, Iron Horse Middle School, Stone Valley Middle School were 2006 Blue Ribbon schools, nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. SRVUSD has been recognized for its excellence by receiving the coveted State Department of Education’s Distinguished Schools Award (twenty-two such awards in the past ten years), Seven district schools were named California Distinguished Schools in 2006 alone.Additionally, the new Dougherty Station Community Center and the Diablo College Library (both in Windemere) offer a broad range of classes and activities for all ages. The community center/library offers weekday story time gatherings for children of various ages, after-school Live Homework sessions, cooking, dance and language classes.The LOFT at the Dougherty Station Community Center is the recommended after school hangout as listed by SRTeen.org (San Ramon Teens), operating from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. This fee-based program geared toward 6^th to 8^th graders is very inexpensive at just $75 for the Spring Quarter from 3/31/08 to 6/11/08. The LOFT is a place to socialize on sofas or bean bags with games and movies, sports, cooking club, art club and more. There is no dedicated homework time, but the nearby Dougherty Station Library provides a supervised quiet space for homework.There are eighteen parks located throughout Windemere, providing play areas, ball fields, volleyball and tennis courts all within walking or biking distance of Windemere neighborhoods. There are miles of paved and unpaved trails for walking and jogging (I was told over 12 miles), and more than 1,000 acres of open space to enjoy and explore.There’s so many state-of-the-art amenities associated with the new Dougherty Valley High School that I am going to write a separate post for them. All in all, it’s no wonder that Windemere is a desired destination neighborhood for many.

Eleven new neighborhoods with 33 distinctive home designs are currently available from the builders, including Brookfield Homes, Centex Homes and Lennar Homes. These newly constructed and to be constructed homes are being offered from the mid $500,000’s to more than $1,000,000.

There are currently 52 detached single family homes for resale on the market in Windemere*. The median listing price in Windemere as of March 16 2008 is $909,495 for detached single family homes*. Five detached single family homes sold in Windemere during the last thirty days (from Feburary 15, 2008 through March 15,2008) with a median home price of $959,000*.
