San Ramon Faves – Run Like the Wind Half Marathon and 5K in San Ramon - Things to do in Windemere San Ramon
It’s not too late to register for the “Run Like the Wind” in San Ramon, a Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk race to be held on March 30th 2008. Online registration is open through March 27, 2008 at noon. Race packets will be available for pick-up on Saturday, March 29th from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. at the San Ramon Dougherty Station Community Center. Packet pick-up also available race day at event site from 6:00 am - 7:15 am
This race, in this, it’s inaugural year, was conceived to promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all ages and fitness abilities—from first timers to elite runners. Entrants may be individuals or corporate teams.
The start and finish is at the San Ramon Dougherty Station Community Center, 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road, San Ramon, CA. The course is set to run through the beautiful rolling hills of the San Ramon Valley with variable terrain. Check-in and race day registration opens at 6:00 am on March 30, 2008 and ends at 7:00 am. The start times are: 7:30 am for the half marathon and 7:45 am for the 5K Run/Walk.
Trophies will be awarded to the top overall male, female and team. Medals will go to the top three finishers in each age division in the 5K and Half Marathon. Age Divisions include a category for everone: 5-8, 9-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75,79, 80-84, 85+.Corporate Teams can participate in either the 5K or Half Marathon. Winners in the Team Category will not be based on time, but on the team with the most number of participants. So start recruiting now!
A portion of the proceeds from this race will go to local middle and high school athletic programs who provide student volunteers.
